Sheppard & Rout, in association with Westbrooke Capital Partners and Boffa Miskell Ltd, submitted a proposal for the Breathe Housing Competition on a site overlooking Latimer Square. The brief called for a “new urban village that provides a variety of housing options […] based on sustainability, innovation, and a strong sense of community.”

Dubbed ‘One Latimer,’ the proposal offered the built form divided into five main blocks overlooking a central common green space. A variety of housing was suggested from one-bedroom loft-style apartments, through to three and four bedroom townhouses and courtyard houses.

Architecturally, the village was formulated as a collection of similar modernist-inspired buildings that varied in both material and form dependent on their housing type to avoid a monotonous building fabric across the development.

The proposal received a ‘commended’ outcome from the judging panel.
