SUMNER ESPLANADE HOUSE

2012

As a result of the client’s desire to take advantage of the site’s prominent beach-side position, this extensive residence offers itself as a series of horizontal planes to its public street-front. From inside, these planes frame the stone wall, beach, sea, and sky beyond.

The house uses a centralised gallery space to order the living, sleeping, utility, and sizable garaging spaces. The main living and bedroom areas are sensibly positioned on the first floor facing directly towards the ethereal view. The gallery running front to back also allows entrances off both the beach and rear (main) site access. The home’s four bedrooms all feature en-suites which, like the rest of the home, are finished to a high standard and craftsmanship.
